Issue 29 of Paper Chained has just been released on our website, and posted to all subscribers in custody on our physical mailing list. Special thanks to this issue's front cover artist, Steven Labelle from Soledad State Prison in California.
In this issue we're particularly proud to share an interview with Holly Deane-Johns, the author of Holly's Hell: Seven Years in a Thai Prison. Following our visit to Japan earlier this year, we're also sharing an article on prison labour in Japan, and another on the incredible Volunteer Probation Officer system in that country, kindly written for us by Professor Carol Lawson.
As mentioned in our last post (and briefly in the latest issue), Paper Chained is also currently hosting our third art exhibition, showing the works of Mohannah Al Azzeh, a former political prisoner in Israel who was interviewed back in Issue 16. The exhibition will be held from November 20-30 at The Creator Incubator in Newcastle, NSW, with a launch party to be held tomorrow night on November 22. See here for more details on the launch event. A detailed report on the exhibition will be in issue 21.
Read and download the issue for free from our homepage. As always, people are welcome to print and send it to people in custody themselves.
