Today, Paper Chained's latest art exhibition, Visions Through the Eyes of a Palestinian Prisoner, opened in Newcastle at The Creator Incubator. The exhibition features over 40 drawings and paintings by Palestinian artist and former prisoner Mohannad Al Azzeh. Several of the works were made inside Ofer Prison in the West Bank and smuggled out as Palestinians are not allowed to make art in Israeli prisons. You can read more of Mohannad's incredible story in his interview with editor Damien Linnane (pictured holding one of Mohannad's paintings) in issue 16 of Paper Chained.

The exhibition launch party will be 6pm this Saturday the 22nd of November. It will be opened by Senator David Shoebridge, and ARIA-Award winning rapper Dobby will be performing live. Details for the event can be found here. Optional donations are being requested for entry (either online or in person at the launch), with all proceeds going to charity. We hope to see you there.

The exhibition will remain on display until November 30. It will then tour to its second and final location, Sydney Street Gallery in Marrickville, from January 12-19, 2026.

And while you're saving dates, Paper Chained's next exhibition, the third tour of the Paper Chained International collection, will be held at The Creator Incubator in Newcastle from February 12-22, 2026, with a launch event at 6pm on February 14. That show will features over 150 artworks from prisons in 12 different countries.
