Listen to Paper Chained on radio and podcast

Damien Linnane

Some time ago, one of our incarcerated readers in the Northern Territory wrote to us, telling us how popular the Vision Australia Radio (VRA) program is for people in custody, which didn't come as a huge surprise considering the high-rate of illiteracy in prisons.

Following that person's suggestion, I reached out to VRA, asking if they would be interested in reading the content from Paper Chained on air, considering some people in prison are unable to read the magazine in print. I was taken aback by the enthusiastic response I received, and after also telling VRA about the Australia's national prison newspaper About Time, they decided to make a program that reads the work from both publications on air.

I'm pleased to let you know that program, Inside Voice, now airs all around the Vision Australia radio network. You can also listen to previous episodes via the Inside Voice podcast here. Following the creation of Inside Voice, the VRA program Focal Point also interviewed with Paper Chained editor Damien Linnane, which you can check out here (relevant interview starts at 42:15).

Keep an eye on this blog for news on the imminent launch of Issue 17 of Paper Chained.
